All I know about this incident, from the inscription on the back of the images, is that this is “Red, Claude and Me, with our 13ft snake”. And I am not even sure that the second guy was named Claude, as the handwriting is quite difficult to decipher.
Unashamed self promotion was not the main reason why i have decided to include a blog in my website, although this is how i have used it until now. Instead, i was thinking of the blog as a place where i could, among other things, share with others some of the images i collect from flea markets and online auctions. Most of them taken by unknown photographers, they deserve to be saved from oblivion and physical destruction, for either their aesthetic or historical interest, or in some cases for both.
I will inaugurate today this new section of my blog with my latest acquisition of a colonial era photograph from Aden, Yemen. I will do my best to be adding new posts here at least once a month-although high quality reproductions of vintage images and negatives is a more time consuming and less straightforward process than i used to think before undertaking it!
